WEB Porous Materials with Catalytic Effect for High Performance Li-S batteries

Approaching to cost effective and high energy density batteries compared to commercial lithium-ion batteries, practical realization of lithium-sulfur batteries (LSBs) have been considered as promising plan. However, insulating nature of active materials, shuttle effect, and slow redox kinetics are challenging issues leading to severe capacity decay and poor rate capability. In spite of multi-modal studies to tackle above issues, most approaches were under circumstance of low sulfur loading, far away from the practical perspective. To overcome the drawbakcs in LSBs, our research group have developed various electrocatalysts for facile conversion of polysulfides and sulfur. Hierarchically ordered porous structure have been also employed to accommodate large amount of sulfur with excellent cyclability to enhance energy and power density of LSBs.
